Film Transcript
Surfing with Autism is an event that's been going for a few years now, and it's just for the kids on the spectrum to come down, have a day experiencing new things, being in a community event, integrating with a bunch of different people. They just get out in the water and try and increase their skills and ability base.
Yeah, perfect. Have your arms out for balance. Just the results you get from the kids and the smiles on their faces just make the day.
Finally. Hi, my name is D and I surf. Well done, thanks brother. Yeah, yeah. To see the smiles, even our coaches when they're around the kids, it just means so much to everyone, not just the kids and family.
So the main goal of the day is just to get the kids, in some way, shape or form, in the water — if it's swimming, lying on the board, sitting on the board.
What about the parents of the autistic kids? How have they responded to the whole event?
It's been so overwhelming. We've had such a great, great, great response to it. They're just so grateful, I guess, and for them to be able to have some time off and to see their kids trying new things and achieving things that they probably thought weren't even possible. Yeah, it's just been fantastic.
Guys, rock, roll baby — at the back, hey wo.
